By way of an hello, my name is James J Kelly, from Glasgow via Co. Cork and Kilkenny. A very proud Kelly with a kilt in Kelly Dress tartan newly adorning my wardrobe! I hope to research my Ancestry but may be hindered by the fact that an Aunt recently informed me that our family name was actually spelt Kiely! I have yet to verify this. Mt Grt Grandfather Edward Kelly came across to Scotland and made his mark, pronounced his surname and it was recorded here as Kelly.Edward had 2 sons Michael my grandfather and Martin who was a prizefighter by all accounts. Glad to take part in all things Kelly on here, check out the tartan which has to be specially woven it is really fantastic.
Best,
James

Good to hear from you James. Any chance you can post a photo of the Kelly kilt. I was a member of the Kilt Club of Ireland at one time, the Kelly kilt was discussed but I never saw the end product.

Hi Joe,
have a look on tkhe Scotweb site, it was this firm that wove my fabric for the new Kilt. If you search for Kelly Dress Modern, there is a decent representation of the "Sett" and the colours are pretty accurate, around £500 for the fabric alone though! I have a lady whocan make a Kilt if you wish!
Regards,
James
