The marriage took place in Rome recently between Deirdre Kelly and Bartho Perotti.
After years of family research, the family link to an ancient Irish King has been established.
William (Liam) Bui Ó Ceallaigh was King of a territory known as Ui Maine, in the West of Ireland. Fearful that his country might loose it’s culture and traditions, he organised a ‘oireacht’ (a great gathering of free men), so that these traditions might be recorded.
This was in the year 1351. (More info on Wm Bui in Main Menu). Two years later he had the Franciscan Abbey in Kilconnell built. This Kelly/Franciscan tradition was maintained when the marriage ceremony was conducted by Fr. Michael Mac Craith of the Franciscan order, and late of Galway University.

Dee is the 17th Great grand daughter of Wm Bui Ó Ceallaigh.

Long drive from Dublin to Roma and back. Worth every minute of it. Great company, great friends and a great wedding/party..
